This letter is the Annual appeal to Members to contribute to the 2024 staff Christmas fund.
As I said to members at the AGM, we enjoy a very good staff, on the course, in the office, in the kitchen, in the professional shop and behind the bar. The competition for good staff in golf clubs like ours is extremely competitive. In licensed clubs the wages offered are much higher than we are able to pay, yet we benefit from a stable workforce who appreciate the respect that they are given by Members.
The staff Christmas fund makes a significant difference to both staff retention and to morale.
The fund is a team bonus that rewards all staff across the Club, including those working in the clubhouse, kitchen, professional shop, administration and the team responsible for maintaining our course. The bonus is paid equally applied to all staff, with adjustments made for the proportion of full-time and part-time employment. For example, full-time employees receive a full unit, while casual staff are paid based on the number of hours they’ve worked.
The fund is seeded by a $5.00 cart levy to visitors and a 2% loading to all external functions, the balance is up to us Members. Any direct gratuities made during the year are paid into the fund. The aim for 2024 is $1,400 per full time equivalent, much the same as last year.
The Board is grateful to the Members who make substantial donations and equally to those who give according to their means. At $1.00 per week, it is $50.00 per Member at 50c it is say $25.
All donations are anonymous, and we encourage you to contribute what you feel is reasonable and affordable. The team bonus will be paid in the first pay week of December, so we need to act quickly please.
