Day 1 – Monday, 9 September
Welcome to Melbourne!
We will be flying into Tullamarine Airport, Melbourne to commence what will be a memorable week of golf coupled with some fantastic fare and vino.
Our first night is at Adina Southbank in 1 bedroom apartments. Our accommodation is only moments away from Melbourne’s bustling Southbank and a short walk from the vibrant dining and entertainment options of the CBD.
We’ll enjoy ourselves with a Welcome Dinner at one of the local eateries before bedding down for the night.
Day 2 – Tuesday, 10 September
Breakfast at your leisure before we jump on the bus and head over to play a match against Riversdale Golf Club.
Riversdale is one of our long standing reciprocal clubs with the course being designed by noted course architect Alex Russell.
Riversdale handed the last touring group a heavy defeat so we are looking to provide them with some better competition than when we last played on the course.
Following the match we’ll enjoy, drinks a presentation along with a post game meal before heading back to Adina Southbank.
Day 3 – Wednesday, 11 September
Following a quick breakfast we head to Portsea Golf Club for a match against their members.
Porstea is not only one of the oldest golf clubs in the Mornington Peninsula but it is also one of newly acquired reciprocal clubs. Built among rolling sand dunes and protected by thick native coastal shrubbery and deep bunkers, Portsea is undoubtedly a course designed with the thinking golfer in mind.
Portsea is currently ranked No. 49 in Australia.
We will enjoy dinner and presentations at the Club before checking in to our accommodation.
Day 4 – Thursday, 12 September
Breakfast in Sorrento is followed by a quick bus trip to The Dunes Golf Links.
The Dunes has beautifully undulating fairways that meander through undulating knolls and ridges, leading to expansive greens that are typically sheltered in a natural amphitheatre or exposed on elevated promontories to the full force of the elements.
Natural bunkering and prevalence of native grasses ensure every aspect of your game is relentlessly challenged, with the rough tormenting any player who ventures wide of the fairway.
The Dunes is currently ranked No. 24 in Australia.
Dinner that night would be at a local restaurant.
Day 5 – Friday, 13 September
After another enjoyable breakfast and checking out of the hotel we head down the road to play Sorrento Golf Club.
Formed in 1907, Sorrento Golf Club is one of the oldest clubs in the Mornington Peninsula.
The course was designed by J.D. Scott and later altered by Peter Thompson. The par 70 layout is an immaculate, undulating course with all year playability set on a sand and limestone base.
It is not an overly long course, but there are many challenging holes that require good course management. Its generous Santa Anna couch fairways are surrounded by densely wooded plantations, and bent grass greens are moderately to heavily bunkered.
Sorrento Golf Club is currently ranked No. 61 in Australia.
Once we have completed golf we will enjoy a bite to eat in the Club followed by a quick presentation before jumping on the bus and heading back to the Airport for a late flight home.
